Hey, You haven’t heard from me before. I’m Christopher, and I work at The Eden Projects. I put up most of the web content that you see, unless you don’t like it…in which case I definitely didn’t do it!
Last week was super crazy. I missed my morning caffeine dose almost every morning, and spent a good 75% of my time editing videos and putting pretty pictures on flyers and brochures…basically playing with crayons grown-up style. While watching a few videos on youtube to get inspiration for some of my work, I found myself wondering what it is that really sends a video viral, (it’s not a bad thing, no infections, just means “super duper popular”).
You remember that hamster video? It’s like 5 seconds long, and it’s just a shot of a hamster doing something weird….almost 35 Million views! Then that sneezing panda video. 15 seconds long, just someone’s home camera at the zoo….134 Million views! How can I get one of our videos to go viral like that? Our cause is exceptional. Our footage is good. We have video of cute animals. Admittedly the editing isn’t the greatest, but I’m working on it. Is it literally just a matter of having cooler transitions and better music? I’m think maybe the appeals need to be more about the power of the people. I’m open to any ideas here…I was a business major in college, not a videographer (is that the right word for it?).
I’m making it my mission to create 1 video….just 1…that goes viral. And I promise you, if I do succeed, I will put Steve in a Panda suit, and make him sneeze on camera, so the whole world can see!
Well…probably too soon to start looking forward to the weekend, but I hope your work weeks are going well so far!
See Ya!
Christopher
