Trains, Planes & Zebras

We’ve been writing about our experiences in Madagascar recently. But we forgot to tell you about the adventures of getting to Madagascar in the first place!

Our flight was anything but direct.  We first took a 7-hour flight to London, with an 8-hour coffee break at Heathrow, then a 9-hour flight to Nairobi, Kenya where we had an 18-hour layover. Sound long? Well, it was, but once we realized we could pay the affordable $10 visa out of the airport, we had more than enough time for a proper African Safari!

This was completely unexpected, but who can say no to seeing wild animals in their natural habitat just 15 minutes from the airport! Zebra, giraffes, and rhinos OH MY! Unfortunately, as we drove back and forth our eyes became heavy, but thanks to the exciting wild animals, especially the spotting of a lioness and lion on the hunt, we were able to stay awake and get back to the airport with time for a nap before our last flight that would take us to our destination…Madagascar!

Total hours of travel: 45

Here are some photos to hold you over until we are able to post again!
